MPD :: Myeloproliferative Disorders :: Foundation Mission Statement

The MPD Foundation's primary mission is to stimulate and finance original research in pursuit of new treatments and eventually a cure for the myeloproliferative disorders (MPD) which include polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and primary myelofibrosis. As a secondary goal, the MPD Foundation hopes to use the research and therapies developed from the MPD work to benefit a broader range of blood cancers such as multiple myeloma, myelogenic leukemia and lymphocytic leukemia. Lastly, the foundation hopes to give patients and their families the information they need to manage myeloproliferative disorders and minimize the debilitating side effects until an initial cure is found.
