Hosting a Fundraising Event for the MPD Foundation

Take the challenge in honor of a loved one or for yourself by raising funds and awareness for MPD research.  Turn your next marathon, golf outing or special event into an opportunity to help the MPD Foundation continue to fund critical research.  If you would like to join the growing number of persons or organizations hosting events in support of the MPD Foundation, read the following terms carefully to find out how to proceed.

  1. Contact the MPD Foundation at 312-683-7226 to indicate your interest and explore the details and logistics of the proposed event.
  2. Sign an Event Agreement which sets forth the terms associated with the conduct of the event, including the manner in which the event will be promoted and marketed and the use of the Foundation’s name and trademarks.
  3. You are responsible for the registration of participants, the solicitation of sponsors and donors, the execution of contracts for the premises, insurance and waivers, handling of proceeds, and all other matters.
  4. The MPD Foundation may send a representative to your event to facilitate on-site efforts by educating participants and the public regarding MPDs and the Foundation’s mission to find a cure.  At your request, the Foundation representative may also participate in the presentation of awards or prizes at the event.
  5. You would pay any expenses associated with the event out of the proceeds, subject to appropriate supporting invoices and other documentation.  Within 45 days following the event you would forward to the MPD Foundation the net proceeds from the event, along with a completed Expense Report on which you must account for all expenses associated with the event (including copies of supporting invoices or other documentation).
  6. Any money raised through our Firstgiving online fundraising site comes directly to the MPD Foundation and may not be disbursed to pay event expenses.
  7. You or your organization would work with the MPD Foundation to ensure the appropriate reporting of income and expenses for the purposes of tax filings (including where applicable, the acknowledgement of donor contributions).
  8. The MPD Foundation will support your fundraiser in the following ways:
  • The MPD Foundation will provide collateral material such as brochures and newsletters
  • Advertise your event on our website
  • Provide access to and set-up on our fundraising website
  • Provide donor recognition letters
  • Include event information in its newsletters
  • Assist with your fundraising plan

     9.  The MPD Foundation cannot fund any part of your event and is not at

liberty to utilize its database for the purposes of direct solicitation for

          your event.
